This is possibly one of the best club shows I've seen in a while. I was worried at first when all the Straight Edge HardCore kids were sitting down before Pluto took the stage, but they stood up, and Pluto rocked out hard. They have a very poppy sound, tinged with a bit of (eek!) Green Day (the guitar solos [2] reminded me of Weezer). They've got some stuff out on Mint Records, which incedently leads me to Cub. Cub played a really hot and short set... They did "Hello Kitty" and "Sweet Pea," so I was happy. The only problem being a dead nine volt battery. I'm guessing most of you know what Cub sounds like, so, I'll spare the description, but they did play VERY well. Godhead Silo came on next in a sort of a mixed bill type thing. The dynamic duo tore it up, and all the straight edge kids went nuts. I predict the singer/bassist will die of an anuerysm before he's 30. He plays through a new Sovtek Big Muff, an old Big Muff, and two phase shifters... and he has 4(!?!?!) 15" cabinets... it was painful. They were very good, but I just laughed at the S.E. kids doing their little angsty dances. Pansy Division came on and informed us that they were gonna do a Fleetwood Mac set, but they let me down and played one of their normal kick ass sets. Pre-Encore, they played "Rock N Roll Queer Bar", and the bass player got naked. For the encore they did "Fuck Like Bunnies," and the drummer got naked too (I saw my first nude drummstick flip). P.D. tore through their set, and got the locals to shed a few articles of clothing also. The best part of their set was the drummer and the bass player making fun of the singer for not liking Van Halen. I dunno, Pansy Division is one band that just won't let you down.
